Tablet Coating Pan / Tablet Coating Machine
Tablet coating is a critical step in pharmaceutical manufacturing, designed to enhance the functionality and appearance of medicines. Depending on the requirements, this process involves either sugar coating or film coating.
- Sugar Coating: A traditional method used to coat tablets with sugar, primarily for taste masking and visual appeal.
- Film Coating: A modern technique that applies a thin polymer layer onto tablets using a spray system, offering enhanced durability and controlled drug release.
Our Tablet Coating Pan is an advanced solution for applying coatings to tablets after the compression process.
Features of Our Conventional Coating Pan
We provide conventional coating pans, widely used in the pharmaceutical, food, and confectionery industries. Key features of our coating machines include:
- High-Quality Materials: Contact parts are made from AISI 316/304 stainless steel, while non-contact parts use AISI 304, ensuring durability and compliance with industry standards.
- Robust Design: The machine features a fabricated structure with a stainless steel enclosure, making it easy to clean and operate.
- Vibration-Free Operation: Mounted on an anti-vibration pad, the machine ensures smooth performance without requiring a separate foundation.
- Customizable Options: Polishing pans are easy to replace, and different coating pan sizes can be fitted to meet specific production needs.

Working Principle of a Coating Pan / Tablet Coating Machine
Rotation of Coating Pan:
- The coating pan is a round, perforated or solid stainless-steel pan that rotates at variable speeds.
- Tablets or other solid dosage forms to be coated are placed in the pan, where they move along with the rotation and tumble continuously.
Spraying of Coating Material:
- A spraying system is used to apply the coating solution (e.g., sugar, polymer, or aqueous coating) onto the surface of the tablets.
- The spraying system is designed to ensure uniform application, maintaining consistency in line with technological requirements and standard operating protocols.
Drying Process:
- Simultaneously, a hot air blower system supplies heated and filtered air to the coating pan.
- This hot air helps to dry the coating material applied to the tablet surface, ensuring even and uniform coating.
- The air exhaust system removes the moisture-laden air to maintain the required drying environment inside the pan.
Continuous Coating Cycle:
- The coating material is sprayed in successive cycles, with intervals for drying in between, to achieve the desired thickness and quality of the coating layer.
- The rotation of the pan ensures that all tablets receive an equal amount of coating.
Control and Monitoring:
- Parameters such as pan speed, spray rate, hot air temperature, and air velocity are controlled to prevent defects like uneven coating, over-wetting, or chipping of the tablets.
